Background

In December, 2017 Robert and his son, Barney Swan, set off on the South Pole Energy Challenge. Halfway through this 600-mile journey, Robert was forced to turn back due to a catastrophic physical injury leaving Barney to complete the challenge — becoming the first person in history to walk to the South Pole powered solely by renewable energy. In January, 2020, Robert returned to Antarctica to finish the remaining 300 nautical miles across the landmass but again fell short of his childhood dream by a mere 97 nautical miles a after reinjury again forced him to evacuate. Overcoming extraordinary odds, Robert will return to Antarctica leading the Undaunted: South Pole 2023 Expedition one final time showing the world what is possible to achieve if you persevere. Robert has lived his life by the motto that if you make a commitment you must honor it. This type of mentality is exactly what is needed most in our world.

What is it about?

From 28 December we will accompany Robert Swan, together with his son Barney Swan, to reach the South Pole. It is the last 97 miles to the South Pole.

For the last 60 miles, Robert, his son will be accompanied by a group of veterans. This team of intrepid men and women will prove true resilience - physically, mentally and spiritually. As former military personnel who literally bear the scars of war on their bodies, the team will also highlight one of Antarctica's most extraordinary qualities: that it is the only place on Earth never marred by the ugliness of human conflict.

Upon their return, the veterans will become ambassadors for Antarctica and sustainability and will support companies on their journey to successfully implement ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance).

instingo cooperates with 2041

Instingo cooperates with Robert Swan and the organisation 2041 and will support the commitment with a series of challenges. And in a playful way: based on our step challenges. Always according to the motto "Playfully change behaviour".  We do not want to lecture on the basis of our Step Challenges, nor do we want to point an accusing finger or even urge people to do without. We want to give suggestions, show national and global ways and point out the uniqueness of Antarctica.

Anyone can take part in the challenges as an individual or as a team.
