Connect Polar & Fitbit to instingo

Learn how to sync your Polar or Fitbit account with instingo via Health Connect (Android) or Apple Health (iOS).

Steps to Connect Your Device:

For Android Users (Health Connect)

Note about Health Connect:
  • Pre-installed on Android 14 and newer devices
  • Pre-installed on Google Pixel phones running Android 13 or newer
  • Pre-installed on Samsung Galaxy phones with One UI 6.0 or newer
  • Available for manual installation on Android 9+ devices via Play Store
  1. Check Health Connect availability:
    • If using Android 14+, Google Pixel, or Samsung with One UI 6.0+: Health Connect is already installed
    • For other Android devices: Install Health Connect from the Play Store
  2. Open Health Connect and configure initial settings:
    • Grant basic permissions when prompted
    • Enable "Steps" data in permissions
    • Allow background sync if prompted
  3. Set up your fitness device app:
    • For Polar: Install Polar Flow, log in, and enable Health Connect sync in Settings > Integrations
    • For Fitbit: Install Fitbit app, log in, and enable Health Connect in Settings > Data sharing
  4. Connect instingo:
    • Open the instingo app
    • Grant Health Connect permissions when prompted
    • Specifically enable "Read Steps" permission
  5. Verify the connection:
    • Wait 5-10 minutes for initial sync
    • Check your step count in your instingo user profile
    • If steps aren't showing, verify permissions in Health Connect settings

For iOS Users (Apple Health)

  1. Prepare Apple Health:
    • Open Apple Health app (pre-installed on all iOS devices)
    • Go to Summary > Your Profile > Privacy
    • Ensure Steps tracking is enabled
  2. Set up your fitness device app:
    • For Polar: Install Polar Flow, log in, go to Settings > Apple Health > Enable Steps
    • For Fitbit: Install Fitbit app, log in, tap Today tab > Profile picture > Settings > Health Data Sharing > Apple Health > Enable Steps
  3. Connect instingo:
    • Open instingo app
    • Allow Apple Health access when prompted
    • Ensure "Steps" permission is enabled
  4. Verify the connection:
    • Wait for initial sync (5-10 minutes)
    • Check steps in your instingo user profile
    • If needed, review permissions in Apple Health > Sources
Troubleshooting Tips:
  • Ensure all apps are updated to their latest versions
  • Check internet connectivity
  • Try force closing and reopening the apps
  • Verify all permissions are correctly set in Health Connect/Apple Health
