Introduction

In this privacy policy, Instingo ("we", "our" or "the company") explains how we collect, process and use personal data from users who access our website at www.instingo.de ("Website") or otherwise provide us with personal data (collectively referred to as "Users").

The competent supervisory authority under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is the Bavarian State Office for Data Protection Supervision: Bavarian State Office for Data Protection Supervision.

Types of Data Collected

We collect and process the following types of personal data:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Activity data, including step counts and manually entered fitness activities
  • Health data, as authorized by the user:
    • Steps
  • Device information for sending push notifications, as long as the user permits it, including:
    • Device token
    • Operating system and version
    • App version
  • For challenge or support requests, we may additionally collect:
    • Phone number
    • Company name
    • Request details
    • Documents containing personal data

Processing and Storage of Health Data

Instingo collects and processes health data exclusively with the explicit consent of users. This data is used to enable our step challenges by converting activities into steps and providing leaderboards for users and teams.

The processing of this data is done in compliance with applicable data protection laws (GDPR, CCPA) and in cooperation with third-party platforms such as Google Fit, Apple Health and Health Connect. Users can withdraw their consent for data processing at any time in the app settings.

Device Information for Push Notifications

To send push notifications, we collect device information such as device token, operating system and app version. This data is only processed when the user consents to receiving push notifications. The user can withdraw this consent at any time in the app settings, which terminates the processing of this data.

Data Storage

We store personal data only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, including compliance with legal obligations, dispute resolution and enforcement of our policies. The storage period depends on the type of data and legal requirements. Data that is no longer needed will be deleted.

Additional storage of activity and health data:

  • We store step count data and manually entered fitness activities as long as they are included as features in a challenge.
  • Health data from third-party services such as Google Fit or Apple Health is stored only when the user has provided explicit consent.
  • Device information is stored only as long as the user has push notifications enabled. After withdrawal of consent or deletion of the user account, this information will be deleted.
  • Once data is no longer needed or a storage period expires, it will be securely deleted.

We reserve the right to correct, supplement or remove incomplete or inaccurate data at our discretion.

Cookies

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to improve user experience and optimize our services. These include:

  • Session cookies: Temporary cookies that are deleted when you close your browser.
  • Persistent cookies: Cookies stored on your device for a specified period to recognize returning visitors and save settings.
